Riccardo Calafiori’s switch to Salernitana seemed imminent, yet ultimately the Granata have fallen behind in the race for the 20-year-old.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese have made good progress in trying to sign the Italian fullback.
Cremonese are now set to meet with Roma on Tuesday to finalize Calafiori’s transfer.
In the meantime, Salernitana and FC Basel are trailing behind. Salernitana were reportedly not convinced of Calafiori’s fit for the team given his inexperience following an unsuccessful loan spell at Genoa, whereas Basel were never in the player’s consideration as Calafiori wants to continue playing in Italy.
