Roma’s Bryan Cristante played a pivotal role for the Italian national team this evening in their first match following their World Cup 2022 failure.
The midfielder scored a first half equaliser to draw the score level 1-1 as the Azzurri would go on to defeat Turkey in an away friendly by the score of 3-2.
“We did well to react to their goal, the stadium was packed tonight so it wasn’t easy playing in this environment,” Cristante told Rai Sport.
“It was important for us to have a strong reaction, even though we found ourselves losing very early on in the match.”
He continued, “We had to show a reaction tonight and immediately turn the page—all of us are disappointed. However, everyone knows that in football we don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves.”
“We have to start over right away because we know we’re a strong team.”
