Former Roma Primavera man Cristian Volpato’s impact on last night’s match resulted in a beautiful goal from outside the box as well as a last minute assist to seal the Giallorossi’s victory at the Stadio Bentegodi.

The 18-year-old celebrated his first Serie A goal of the season against Verona, against whom he scored his first senior goal last year in a 2-2 draw at the Olimpico.

“I don’t know why I pick on Hellas Verona of all teams,” Volpato told the club’s official channel after the final whistle. “Perhaps it’s because my father is from here originally.”

“The goal? Matic found me in the blink of an eye and passed the ball my way, and I managed to score. He does that in training as well and today it happened and it worked. I have to thank him for this moment.”

Volpato concluded the interview by saying, “I dedicate this goal to all the supporters who made the trip to come see us.”
