Damiano Tommasi compares himself to Lorenzo Pellegrini, previews Verona clash

Former Roma midfielder Damiano Tommasi – currently serving as the mayor of Verona – previewed the Giallorossi’s upcoming trip to the Bentegodi where they will face a struggling Hellas Verona side on Monday night.

“I admire Mourinho for his ability to communicate, to motivate the players, to bring the best out of the environment he’s in,” Tommasi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“When I was at Roma I covered a similar role to that of Bryan Cristante, but he’s a better player than myself.”

“I have a soft spot for Pellegrini, he resembles me in terms of his dynamism, but with much more quality,” Tommasi added.

“Who do I root for? The team that is more in need of points, and right now it seems quite obvious that’s Verona.”

“It is a game that creates some embarrassment for me given my past at Roma, but it is the only one that does not make me suffer too much in case of defeat of one or the other,” he concluded.
