Newly appointed SPAL manager and Roma legend Daniele De Rossi discussed in today’s presser the chances of his side meeting his former club in the Coppa Italia as SPAL prepare to face Genoa tomorrow night.
“Coppa Italia reminds me of Roma-Triestina, if we want to talk about a debut. That was my first game,” De Rossi told reporters about his first senior appearance for Roma.
“I went in and I was very excited, I scored on penalties and the next day the coach complimented me even in front of the older players. Almost 20 years have passed since that magical day, I still remember it…”
“Extra motivation for potential facing Roma in the next round? Our motivation is to go to the Marassi stadium in Genova and face Genoa there tomorrow night. We don’t plan on winning the Coppa Italia, but if we were to go through we’ll do everything we can to beat Roma.”
