Daniele De Rossi discusses first preseason as Roma’s head coach: “I was born to do this job.”

Daniele De Rossi shared his impressions from the first preseason he conducted in charge of Roma as head coach of the team.

In an interview with DAZN, De Rossi discussed the differences between playing preseason as a footballer versus having to orchestrate it as a coach.

“The summer as a footballer is different,” said the Roma boss. “Back then I used to come a couple of days before the preseason training started, I was very calm about it.”

“Now as a coach you arrive at least 10 days early, I’ve been here all summer and you have to think about everything. The work starts much earlier, you have to be ready for everything and know that there is going to be a lot of pressure.”

“I loved it and I feel like I was born to do this job. Doing it from the beginning is the best thing, it makes you feel in control of creating your team. Maybe over time I’ll switch off a little earlier, I’ll take a bit of vacation, this time I’ve been on a roll since last year, but there was a lot of rebuilding to do and I had to test myself as a coach.”
