Daniele De Rossi happy with Rui Patricio’s attitude and leadership as back-up keeper

Andy Mattioli

Roma are reportedly very happy with how Rui Patricio has adapted to being the second choice goalkeeper following Mile Svilar’s ascent in the team’s hierarchy.

The Portuguese veteran – a regular starter for almost 2.5 years for Roma – was demoted to the bench as soon as Daniele De Rossi took over.

De Rossi picked Mile Svilar over Patricio and the 24-year-old has featured in Roma’s line-up ever since.

According to Francesco Balzani for, Daniele De Rossi has been pleased with how Patricio has accepted this change and despite being only a couple of months away from free agency, the veteran shot-stopper has shown leadership and positive attitude on the sideline.

Balzani suggests that Roma – who will inevitably make Svilar their starting goalie for next season too – are pondering whether to renew Patricio’s contract for another year and make him their second-choice keeper.
