Roma legend Daniele De Rossi made up his mind and returned to Roberto Mancini’s staff with Italy’s national team.
The former Roma captain had quit the national team following Italy’s win at the Euros and dedicated himself to pursue a career in coaching.
In the end – due to COVID related delays – the 38-year-old decided to resume his role as a technical coach for the Azzurri.
De Rossi was interviewed by Rai Sport ahead of tonight’s showdown at Palermo between Italy and North Macedonia and was specifically asked about his duties with Italy and his importance on the touchline.
“I want to bring some enthusiasm, cheerfulness and lightheartedness to the group. And a little bit of that magical summer fragrance from last year. That’s all,” he said.
