Roma boss Daniele De Rossi praised his side following the first leg victory in the Europa League quarterfinals with Milan.
In his post-match reaction with Sky Sport, De Rossi discussed the performance and singled out Romelu Lukaku’s contribution.
“Our ball management was very good for 65/70 minutes. We controlled the ball really well and that allowed us to take advantage of some free space in front of us. That was Lukaku’s best performance since I’ve been here, I would always like to see these games from him.”
“I liked the courage we showed to keep the ball but also the ability to suffer at the end. You can lose or make mistakes but the attitude seen in the derby or tonight must always be maintained, starting from the next match in Udine.”
“El Shaarawy on the right flank? We needed to contain Theo and Leao. We needed to do more on that side, we chose El Shaarawy but Cristante was also pivotal in helping us out.”
“Before the match I told the players that I trusted them, I am proud of everyone,” he added.
