Roma head coach Daniele De Rossi discussed the challenges awaiting his team in tomorrow’s must-win match with Salernitana.
De Rossi held a morning press conference ahead of his team’s scheduled trip to Salerno.
To open the presser, De Rossi clarified the hierarchy in goal between Rui Patricio and Mile Svilar.
“I decided the hierarchy when I first arrived. Rui Patricio has completed many saves and one bad game doesn’t change my ideas about the goalkeeper, it’s a role that for me must have established hierarchies, but Svilar impressed me with his skills.”
“Smalling? He’s currently training with Renato Sanches and Kumbulla. We’re monitoring their daily progress, and they’re making improvements. Already from next week I think we could see them partly back with the rest of the team. Although I still can’t predict when they will be back.”
“Salernitana? They’ve had some objective problems, otherwise they wouldn’t be fighting relegation. I’ve never been to Salerno, I’m curious, they will have an extra boost with the home crowd and it’s a shame that we won’t be able to have our supporters with us. We will play for them too.”
“My team is not scared of playing away from home. I see players with quality and personality, guys who have led this team to a Europa League final by frequently playing away from home. Players like Cristante and Spinazzola have won a EURO trophy by playing the final in England.”
“Dybala is fine, he trained 100% and I see him much better than before. When I first arrived he was tired, he told us he wasn’t comfortable. Huijsen trained with us, today he will train again and travel with us. Mancini is fine, I liked the way he trained over the last days. Aouar? I consider him ready to play tomorrow.”
“As a coach I think a pre-season training camp helps you a lot, but in this situation you have to go straight ahead and hope that the boys already know something. The credit goes to my players. The players I have are experienced and well trained, who know many things, with incredible qualities.”
“If you see the team perform well, the credit will go to the team. They have been trained by a very good coach for three years, they have been trained well and physically they are fine. I bring some ideas to win as many games as possible and they seem to like them.”
