Roma manager Daniele De Rossi admitted to being at fault for choosing to deploy a 3-man backline in last night’s 2-2 draw with Fiorentina.
In his post-match press conference, De Rossi was asked about what he told his players at half-time while Fiorentina were momentarily 1-0 up.
“I apologized and said we’d switch back to a 4-man defense, which is what the boys and I like best. There was an obvious tactical change, therefore an admission, but we were also losing all the aerial duels and that was making life difficult for us.”
“Football is about gameplans and formations, but if opposing players that are 1m70 tall manage to jump above your head and claim all the second balls, it’s tough. Regardless of whether you play three or four at the back.”
“We had a good second half and conceded the second goal at the best moment. Even after two months this team continues to amaze me because we stayed in the match, we got back on our feet against a strong team.”
