Roma boss Daniele De Rossi spoke to Sky Sport a few minutes prior to kick-off to the second leg with Bayer Leverkusen.
In his pre-match interview, De Rossi explained his decision to bench Dybala.
“Given Dybala’s conditions we decided to put more bodies in attack. Spinazzola and Angelino interchange when they play together, they have different ways of hurting the opponent, one is more of a dribbler, one crosses with the left, one with the right, one puts the balls where he wants, they can be a solution with the balls in the area for Lukaku.”
“Dybala? If it had been another match, we would have left him at home. Yesterday he still had a bit of discomfort, we did the checks and there is nothing to worry about, but he feels discomfort and we have to be careful, if you put him on the pitch you risk him not pushing, he will try in the warm-up to see if he will have 20-30 minutes if we need him.”
