Daniele De Rossi: “We cannot be happy with a loss to Inter, that would lead to mediocrity.”

Roma head coach Daniele De Rossi was satisfied with the team’s effort in his last night’s defeat to Inter, but remained tough on his side’s approach to the next games.

“If we are happy for a good performance after we lost against Inter then that would mean we’re on our way to mediocrity and we cannot allow this to happen,” De Rossi told Roma TV at full-time.

“There is regret. Looking at the data, the game could easily have ended in a draw,” he added.

“We need to analyze what didn’t work and applaud the lads for what did work, which is a lot. We need to improve on those drops in concentration that we tend to have, against Inter they may even be physiological but we must be aware that if you can’t handle 90 minutes against such high level teams then you will lose.”

“I am proud for the attitude and courage that the team showed. The starting point is positive, even if you can’t be happy when you lose.”
