Darboe happy with first start of the season

Ebrima Darboe finally got his first start of the season ahead of the likes of Amadou Diawara and Gonzalo Villar. The 20-year-old started the match against Zorya alongside Bryan Cristante.

He spoke to the club’s channels after the 3-0 away win.

“I am really happy with the performance of the whole team. I’m glad I played my first game for the coach.”

On whether he was able to grow under Mourinho in these first few months:

“Definitely, every day in training I am trying to understand more and more what the coach wants. He is making us work a lot, so I still need a little while to understand what he wants.”

On whether he needs to still improve some things:

“I’m trying to improve my defensive side every day in training, I’m working on it.”

On his assist:

“As soon as I saw El Shaarawy move forward – I didn’t think twice about it.”
