Roma midfielder Ebrima Darboe was one of the few bright spots for the capital club this past season as he emerged as one of the club’s most promising youngsters.

The 19 year-old featured prominently for the Giallorossi in the final weeks of the season and provided much-needed balance.

His performances caught the attention of several clubs abroad, including in France and England, but Roma have no intention of selling the player.

According to today’s edition of Il Tempo, Roma executive Tiago Pinto met with Darboe’s agent yesterday at the club’s headquarters. The two sides are closing in on an agreement on a new contract and also discussed the player’s future for next season.

Reportedly, manager José Mourinho has already decided to include Darboe in the first team’s retreat later this summer. The Portuguese technician will evaluate him during this period then make a decision as to whether or not he will be in his plans for the upcoming season.

The club wants the midfielder to continue growing, which is why a loan move could be a possibility for next season.
