Davide Lippi, the intermediary who brought Borja Mayoral to Roma: “He’s an exemplary professional.”

Italian agent Davide Lippi was full of praise today for Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola, who is one of his clients, and Borja Mayoal, who he helped bring to the capital in the summer as the intermediary in the operation.

“Borja is a sensational lad,” he began when discussing the Spanish striker.

“He’s an exemplary professional, you can tell that he’s played in a massive club such as Real Madrid before. He arrived at Roma calmly knowing that he would find Edin Dzeko, but he worked hard and stayed humble.”

He continued, “Roma did this deal as chance for him to blossom as a player. It’s a loan with an option to buy, so Borja must take advantage of his opportunities when Dzeko isn’t playing.”

As for Spinazzola, who has been one of the most important players for Roma this term, Lippi admitted that the collapsed transfer to send him to Inter last year was a blessing in disguise for the Italian after he initially encountered difficulties in Rome.

“It’s clear for everyone to see who won from the collapsed swap for Politano. The match that Leo featured in immediately after against Genoa was a turning point for him,” he explained to Radio Radio.

“He has shown immense character and personality. He needed time to adapt plus he was playing on the right side at times. In the end, though, his massive amount of quality has shown through.”
