Davide Santon could retire after entering free agency

Davide Santon’s time at Roma has come to an end as the player spent his last season at the capital club excluded from all group training activities after having rejected numerous offers from Italy.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Santon – who signed with Roma in the summer of 2018 – could retire in the coming weeks after entering free agency earlier this week.

His scarce physical condition and lack of motivation have contributed to his decision to reject all offers from Serie A which arrived at his doorstep in January including Spezia and Salernitana as well as some offers from Turkey.

The Italian newspaper reports that Santon’s agent may try and look for other proposals from abroad, however, at the moment the possibility of the 31-year-old calling it quits is a concrete one.
