Marten De Roon’s experience for a Champions League night at Old Trafford.
On the eve of Manchester United’s match against Roma, the fourth matchday of the league season, the Dutch midfielder joined Gian Piero Gasperini at a press conference to introduce the big match against the Red Devils and answer questions from journalists.
“The coach is unique; his way of training us tactically is unmatched. I have a lot of respect for him. He plays fast-paced football, scoring lots of goals and playing with incredible intensity, and this has always made his teams very strong.”
“I’m fine. Since I arrived, I needed to regain my rhythm and fitness, and we fixed that during the break. The staff and the group welcomed me very well. I knew I could still contribute, and I’m happy with how things are going.”
“We had a fantastic run at Atalanta, it seemed like all that mattered was winning trophies. Roma are playing well, the first year of the Champions League allows you to play high-level games. We want to maintain consistency in our performances, like in a magical stadium like the one tomorrow.”
“We weren’t very mature against Real Madrid, but we’re growing. The way we approach teams and play is putting on a show. We always try to score and not shut down. It’s important, however, that we’re aware as a team that we need to defend better at times. But we’re growing.”
“The relationship with the fans? I’m on the right track; performances are always what count. But I was pleased to be applauded when I left the pitch against Cagliari. Facts always prove your worth.”
