De Rossi backs Fonseca: “It’s crazy to put him under discussion.”

Former Roma midfielder and captain, Daniele De Rossi, backed Roma manager Paulo Fonseca during his appearance today on Bobo TV, the Twitch channel of Christian Vieri, Antonio Cassano, Nicola Ventola and Daniele Adani.

The 37 year-old, who is currently studying for his coaching badges in order to begin his managerial career, defended the Portuguese manager and was stunned that the Giallorossi boss is even under discussion.

“He’s fourth in the table and has a manageable run of games coming up. It’s absolutely crazy to put him under discussion,” proclaimed De Rossi.

“He’s had up’s and down’s — there’s no denying that Roma struggles in these big matches, but the club is rightly backing him. This team knows what the manager asks of them when they take the pitch.”

Explaining further, “Obviously nobody is satisfied with only beating the small teams, but this Roma is right on track, but of course there’s room for improvement. Roma are strong and aren’t inferior to Lazio, Milan, and Atalanta — Fonseca is meeting expectations.”
