Daniele De Rossi was once again victorious in tonight’s 4-1 win over Monza.

The Italian technician led the Giallorossi to comfortable away win which puts them one point away from Top 4.

In his post-match interview with DAZN, De Rossi discussed the team’s performance.

“The future? If the boys play a game like this, it means they can always do it. Let’s focus on the immediate future, so Thursday and then the match after.”

“My input? Certainly if this group is so united it’s not because of me. This is a group that has gone all the way to Europe in the last couple of years. If you’re not a cohesive group, you don’t reach those levels.”

“I manage men first, then footballers. I try to be honest and direct, then I make choices. These players are fantastic. I am very happy with them, both for how we work and for how they make me feel. Maybe I have an advantage, since I already know some ex-teammates, maybe they pretended that I was already their coach and they helped me get into this new adventure.”

“Pellegrini? I worked with him physically, tactically, technically. I tried to pass on to him my idea of football. I’m happy because today we played better than the previous match, which we had played better than the ones before.”

“Both Lorenzo and the whole team are understanding what I want from them. And they are understanding how much this style of play requires physical effort, legwork, commitment, effort even without the ball, otherwise it becomes a game as an end in itself.”

“The individual players? When we talk about individual players we can’t only focus on Pellegrini, Dybala or Lukaku. It’s also about the others, such as Celik whom I never played before but who always trains at 200mph and plays the game he did… these are the individuals. Individuals are also the slightly more invisible ones, who don’t go into the newspaper but who get you results in the long run”

“Dybala? We are happy with his daily attitude. He works and he likes to work. When he has cooled down he goes onto the field to encourage the others. He is an example, but everyone is fantastic. He is bringing out all his talent which is something different from everyone else, we can’t hide.”

“Our Champions League objective? The important thing is to succeed together. The stars are making their contribution, but today everyone played a great game. Even those who came in Celik, Bove, Baldanzi, Smalling all came in great. This is the biggest positive.”
