De Rossi expected to be released from hospital next week after battling pneumonia from COVID-19

Roma supporters can breathe a sigh of relief as Daniele De Rossi is expected to be discharged from Spallanzani Hospital next week.

Panic set in on Thursday when it was announced that the 37 year-old was admitted due to respiratory problems brought on by COVID-19. Despite the worry, Francesco Vaia, the medical director of Spallanzani, reassured that De Rossi is doing well.

“Daniele was hospitalised on Thursday after he tested positive for COVID-19 and was dealing with pneumonia-like symptoms,” he said to Adnkronos.

“However, he’s on the right path and is responding well to treatment. He’ll probably be discharged next week and continue his course of therapy at home. This is the result of quick and early intervention.”

Finally, “This disease can be defeated in its early stages with innovative drugs, but we must take note that his young age also plays a large factor. He’s doing well and we’re optimistic.”
