Daniele De Rossi plans to make Lorenzo Pellegrini the engine of his team for the coming months.

After having been appointed as the club’s interim manager until the end of the season, De Rossi’s priority is reportedly getting the best of Lorenzo Pellegrini who lately has been a shadow of his former self.

Pellegrini – who grew up under De Rossi’s father’s wing in the club’s Primavera – is yet to have a remarkable performance this season.

According to Il Messaggero, De Rossi is aware of the situation and of Pellegrini’s importance to the team given his qualities.

The technician, in fact, held a one-on-one meeting during yesterday’s training session leading up to Saturday’s fixture with Hellas Verona.

De Rossi spoke to him, he wanted to test his mood, to see what stimulates him on the pitch. Pellegrini can be useful to him in multiple roles, as a midfielder, his natural position, as an attacking midfielder, a role that Di Francesco has created for him, and on the wing, too.
