Daniele De Rossi is closely working with Leandro Paredes to make him the focal point of Roma’s midfield and the main connection between the midfield and defense.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two – who have been friends since Paredes’ first arrival in the Italian capital in 2014 – are engaged in daily conversations regarding the Argentine’s role and position in the team and on the pitch.
The newspaper claims De Rossi is trying to mold Paredes into a replica of his former self as a player: a deep playmaker who is meant to accelerate the overall rhythm and tempo of the team’s style of play.
Moreover, De Rossi wants Paredes to frequently slot into the team’s backline and fill in as an additional defender especially when setting up the action from the back.
