Daniele De Rossi is in no rush to include Roma’s latest signing, Tommaso Baldanzi, into the team’s starting line-up.
The 20-year-old midfielder arrived in the Italian capital on deadline day of the January window and earned his first minutes of playing time in the second half of Roma’s 4-0 win over Cagliari.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Baldanzi is still not 100% fit as he struggled with injuries in the opening half of the season with Empoli.
However, Roma and primarily Daniele De Rossi are not in a hurry to try and force Baldanzi into the team’s line-up.
Instead, the newspaper suggests that De Rossi will continue relying on the midfielder off the bench across the coming weeks with the objective of allowing Baldanzi to find his own rhythm and footing in this new set-up.
On Saturday night against Inter Milan – the team against which he scored his first senior goal over a year ago – Baldanzi is expected to come off the bench. The steady appearances will grow in length as the weeks go by, eventually enabling Baldanzi to slot into Roma’s line-up in the place of Paulo Dybala or Stephan El Shaarawy.
