De Rossi released from hospital after pneumonia bout

Roma supporters can breath a collective sigh of relief: Daniele De Rossi has been discharged from the hospital.

Fans of the Giallorossi grew worried about the former captain last week after learning he required hospitalisation at the Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases. De Rossi tested positive for COVID-19 and was struggling with pneumonia brought on by the deadly virus.

After four days, though, the 37 year-old has finally returned to his home in the Italian capital, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. While not entirely healed, De Rossi will still require treatment for the symptoms that hampered him throughout the last few days.

His doctors are optimistic that he will make a full recovery soon.
