Daniele De Rossi did not boast after beating Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton 4-0 in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16.

In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, De Rossi remained humble and urged caution ahead of the return leg in England.

“I think every team has ups and down. I didn’t do much, to be honest. Everything just went really smoothly,” he said.

“I’m so happy but I think we’re strong and we’re winning the games we should be winning. We have players that other coaches dream of.”

“I haven’t done anything special, I try to make them go strong in training because in football you have to run a lot. I treat them as human beings and they respond in the field.”

“I’m happy, I don’t minimise anything. I’ve seen so many things I liked but others need to be improved. In the second half it was necessary to go further up the pitch.”

“I am happy with the performance and attention that the boys have put in,” he added.

”Contract renewal? I just I do the job I like in a place I like. Now we play against another team with another special coach. In a week we will go there to England but if we think we have won it will be a problem.”
