De Rossi to stick with three-men defense, change Roma’s attack vs Hellas Verona

Daniele De Rossi is not expected to significantly alter Roma’s formation after being unveiled as the new head coach on Wednesday.

With only a few days left until his debut at the Stadio Olimpico with Hellas Verona, De Rossi is set to stick with Roma’s three-men defense – something he adopted during his stint at SPAL – which they’ve fielded ever since Mourinho took over in 2021.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, De Rossi intends to change something in Roma’s lineup, putting something of his own into it: above all he will ask the team to have possession of the ball, a belief absorbed by his idol, Luis Enrique.

The main novelty is going to be the use of Paulo Dybala behind two strikers – in a 3-4-1-2 set-up – which in this case will be Belotti and Lukaku. De Rossi will push for a more offensive-minded team in order to secure the win on the weekend.
