Defender Dean Huijsen is taking Europe by storm as he continues to impress throughout his loan with Roma.

The young centreback was recently in the spotlight following a spectacular long-range effort which opened the scoreline for Roma’s 3-0 win over Frosinone on Sunday.

In addition to several clubs taking notice of Huijsen and his rapid ascent, the Spanish national team has also shown interest in the 18-year-old.

According to Marca, the defender is close to completing all the paperwork to receive his Spanish citizenship and thus be able to play with La Roja: the first call-up should arrive in March, when the Under 21 squad will face Slovakia and Belgium.

All this is made possible by the fact that the defender moved with his family to Spain at the age of 5 and grew up in Andalusia.
