The future of Francesco Totti at Roma is in doubt. La Repubblica has reported that Totti will meet today with Roma CEO Guido Fienga at the club’s headquarters in the EUR district of Rome. Totti is reflecting on his potential role of Technical Director, but he has some doubts. Why? Totti feels “empty” given his choices have not been taken into account by the club. He had no say in the decision to appoint Gianluca Petrachi as he voted for Massara to remain as sporting director. For the manager, Totti preferred Gattuso or Mihajlovic while the Giallorossi chose Fonseca.
Totti is seriously considering a farewell and will talk about this with Fienga, the man closest to him in the current Roma organizational chart. Totti played a central role in bringing Ranieri back in March and also had a say in De Rossi’s goodbye. But something changed after that and it came in the form of Franco Baldini, the “enemy” of Totti. Should Baldini continue to have massive influence at Roma, Totti is more inclined to depart, unless someone can change his mind.
