RomaPress – Gregoire Defrel is returning to Sassuolo. Giampiero Pocetta, the agent of the Frenchman, has confirmed to RomaPress that the Frenchman will rejoin the Neroverdi after two tumultuous seasons with the Giallorossi, one of which was spent on loan with Sampdoria. The former Cesena man returns to Sassuolo on loan with an obligation to buy – while the striker’s agent would not disclose the figures, a source at Roma revealed that the operation will total €15 million between loan and obligation to purchase. Here is the brief statement from his agent:
“Is it done for Defrel to Sassuolo? It probably will be tomorrow: a loan with an obligation to buy”.
The Giallorossi paid nearly €20 million for Defrel in the summer of 2017 in order to reunite him with Eusebio Di Francesco. However, he suffered numerous injuries and managed to score only one goal with Roma during the 2017/2018 campaign. The Frenchman, though, did regain his form this past season while on loan with Sampdoria as he grabbed 12 goals in all competitions.
