Juventus and Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero praised Roma’s efforts in the Conference League when addressing the current state of Italian football.

The former Juve captain told ESPN, “The lack of competitive spirit in Italian football has taken a toll both on club and international level.”

“Look what happened – we got excluded from the World Cup two consecutive times.”

He then pointed to Roma’s efforts in the first edition of the Conference League. “We can get back to winning ways, and Roma’s Conference League win with Feyenoord should be of example to Italian football.”
