Despite Solskjaer’s words, Roma-Manchester United remain engaged in negotiations for Smalling

“Will Smalling return? Yeah”.

The response of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regarding Chris Smalling’s return was clear – however, it does not tell the full story. Despite the words of the Norwegian boss, Roma and Manchester United remain locked in negotiations for the defender, according to Sky Sport.

The defender has expressed his desire to remain in Rome after having become a crucial piece in Paulo Fonseca’s side and also because he enjoys living in the Italian capital. The Giallorossi don’t want to waste time and continue working on making Smalling’s loan move a permanent one: Manchester United are asking for €20 million and just within the last few days, Roma have raised their offer. The negotiation remains ongoing.
