Di Francesco nearing agreement to become new Cagliari boss

Former Roma manager Eusebio Di Francesco is closing in on a return to coaching.

SportItalia has reported that the 50 year-old is nearing an agreement to become the new manager at Sardinian side Cagliari.

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini has zeroed in on Di Francesco to takeover for current manager Walter Zenga, who replaces Rolando Maran in March.

Di Francesco has been out of football since last October after he was sacked at Sampdoria for not having won a single match in the team’s first seven games.

Like at Roma, he was ultimately replaced by Claudio Ranieri, who managed to keep Samp afloat  throughout the season.

Cagliari are, reportedly, ready to hand Di Francesco a two-year deal worth €1.8 million per season.
