Roma manager Eusebio Di Francesco spoke today ahead of tomorrow’s crucial clash against Chievo in Rome. These are his words:

“I want to discuss again the episode in Liverpool. I condemn all forms of violence. The team and I are very close to Sean Cox and I hope that the return match is a celebration of joy and sport. This is an appeal that I make to our supporters”.

What are the mental conditions of the team?
Disappointed because we expected a different result. We needed to lose fewer duels. We have a very important match in front us in Chievo and the lads must have the desire to make up for the match we lost.

What sort of opponent is Chievo?
An opponent used to fighting in order to save themselves, they’re an experienced team. We have to score goals as soon as possible. We need a victory but knowing full well we’ve struggled against teams who sit back.

What was your assessment after seeing the match against Liverpool?
Analysing it, we played very well for 25 minutes. On the first counterattack, though, we had problems and we lowers our level. We lacked determination in our duels. Physically, Liverpool were superior to us, we have to raise our level of physicality back to the one seen against Barcelona. We must be more confident and braver.

Turnover against Chievo?
We will be without Perotti and Strootman, perhaps for two weeks. As far as turnover is concerned, I will see today who is ready, but there will be changes.

Is Schick ready to play with Dzeko in 4-3-3?
I’ll evaluate. He’s different than a traditional winger. He could do well but he’ll have to make some sacrifices in defence.
