La Gazzetta dello Sport (Pugliese) – Roma’s match against Hellas Verona ended 0-0, but now we must wait for the “official” result from a sporting judge.
By regulation, Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara should not have been allowed to take the pitch. Why? Because in their official 25-man roster submitted to the Lega Serie A, the Giallorossi mistakenly included Diawara into the Under-22 section of their player list. Diawara turned 23 in July and should not have been added to this section of the roster.
A similar situation happened in 2016 with Sassuolo: the Neroverdi were given a 3-0 defeat to Pescara as they forgot to add Antonio Ragusa to their official 25-man roster when they submitted it to the Lega.
Should Roma be handed a 3-0 defeat, they would immediately repeal it because it was an error made in good faith and not with the intent of willful misconduct or fraud.
