RomaPress – Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara will remain with the club at least for the remainder of the season.

Even though a few hours remain before this month’s transfer window deadline, the 24 year-old appears certain to remain in the Italian capital. Diawara was the subject of exit rumors throughout the month, but ultimately the Giallorossi couldn’t finalise a deal for him.

Just moments ago, Diawara rejected an offer from newly promoted Venezia, who offered to bring him to the club on a dry loan deal. The midfielder jilted the Venetian side after his dream move to Valencia fell through earlier today.

Diawara wanted to join the La Liga giants after they registered interest in acquiring him this month. However, both the midfielder’s representatives and Roma informed RomaPress that the Spanish side “disappeared” over the past 24 hours and cut off contact with the parties.

Roma hoped to offload the former Napoli man so they could acquire a more physical, defensively-minded midfielder.
