Diawara rejects Wolverhampton approach, intends to stay at Roma

Roma are currently looking to off-load a number of players. First and foremost, Kluivert and Olsen are on their way out. More specifically both players are likely to play in Ligue 1 next season with Kluivert going out on loan to OGC Nice (yet to be determined whether this will be an option or an obligation) and Olsen being sold to reigning champions Lille.

Another player whose future at the club remains uncertain is Amadou Diawara. The 24-year-old is one of the many midfielders at Mourinho’s disposal at the start of pre-season and Roma may be looking to move on from him.

Il Tempo reports that Wolverhampton approached the player in recent weeks, wanting to bring him in as a potential alternative to Ruben Neves. However, Diawara rejected the Wolves’ approach. The player, as of right now, does not intend to leave the Roman club anytime soon.

It remains to be seen whether the Guinean midfielder will change his mind during the course of this transfer window and whether he will accept a secondary role behind the likes of Veretout, Pellegrini, Cristante, Villar and potentially Granit Xhaka.
