Diawara: “Roma was the right place for me to start a new cycle. I didn’t think twice about joining”.

John Solano

Roma midfielder Amadou Diwara was interviewed in the latest edition of AS Roma Match Program ahead of this weekend’s match against Genoa. These are his words:

You started training with Roma about a month ago. What sort of condition are you in?
Physically I feel very good. I chose to come back from my holiday early so that I didn’t fall behind my teammates. Since there’s a new manager, if I returned later, I would have to spend weeks trying to recover. Day by day, I’m starting to learn what the manager wants from me.

Why did you choose Roma?
Because it’s a great team and I felt it was the right place to start a new cycle of my footballing life. I didn’t think twice about it.

Was it the right choice?
Yes, every day that passes I am more convinced that I have made the right choice.

How do you deal with Genoa?
The right way to approach a match is with the right amount of ferociousness. We are working well and we look forward to getting serious and sending a signal to our supporters starting on Sunday.

Is there a teammate you’re particularly close to?
I’ve been here for a month and I get on with everyone, in fact, I’m well connected with my teammates. I speak a little more with Veretout.

Where can Roma go?
We want to finish as high as possible. Many have players have arrive – especially young ones. I also think it was a huge coup to keep Dzeko. It gave us all a bit of a jolt in the dressing room. , and I think he made a big blow to keep Edin Dzeko. It gave us a jolt in the dressing room.
