Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone addressed questions regarding Alvaro Morata’s future.

The Spanish striker was heavily linked with Roma in this window, but, in a recent interview with AS Simeone showed no signs of wanting to part ways with the ex-Juve man.

“It depends on his own plans and the club’s plans. We have a pretty clear idea of who stays and who goes,” Simeone told the newspaper.

“He is a very important player for us. He possess skills that no one else does in the team. Alvaro adds depth and height on the pitch, and is very smart.”

“He is crucial for us. We hope he stays with us. Hopefully we can help him get back to scoring. He has scored more goals with us than with Juventus and this excites us. The team needs him.”
