Distance of €5m between Roma-United for permanent Smalling deal

John Solano

Talks between Roma and Manchester United have continued today as the Giallorossi are trying all they can to finalise a permanent deal for the 30 year-old.

The deadline is approaching to reach an agreement with the Red Devils before Roma’s Europa League tie against Sevilla on 6th August.

At the moment, though, Sky Sport reports that there is still a distance of €5 million between the Giallorossi’s offer and United’s asking price for Smalling. Roma have offered €15 million for the defender while the English side continue to stick to their asking price of €20 million.

It remains to be seen if a permanent deal will be struck but both Smalling and Roma boss Paulo Fonseca have been very outspoken about the former’s intent to remain in the Italian capital.
