Doumbia: “Roma fans whistled me from the start.”

John Solano

Basel striker Seydou Doumbia, who is on loan from Roma, was interviewed by sofoot.com and spoke of the relationship with Garcia and Roma. These are his words:

“Marseille? It was a possibility, I had contact with the president Labrune. I wanted to go to Marseille, but then their situation was complicated. It was too bad because I would have loved to play in Ligue 1, I hope that one day there will be an opportunity for this.”

“Roma? I arrived at Roma after the African Cup and I immediately played in the first match: even then the fans whistled me. And it also happened in the other home matches and I never understood why. The truth is that Rudi Garcia did not trust me. At Newcastle, the context was different, Benitez did not count on me but there was no hostility towards me from the fans. In both cases, from the moral point of view, it has not been an easy experience. I am a positive person, but if I train then I do not play but I still get whistled by the fans without a reason, then everything becomes more difficult.”
