Artem Dovbyk has his mind set on joining Roma after talks with Atletico Madrid appear to have collapsed.

The Ukrainian striker is currently the Giallorossi’s favorite candidate to lead De Rossi’s attacker next season.

With Romelu Lukaku gone and Tammy Abraham’s future still uncertain, Roma are doing everything they can to lure the talented 27-year-old to the capital.

In the meantime, Atletico Madrid’s efforts seem to have brought no desired results.

According to La Repubblica, Diego Simeone’s phone calls have not been returned by Dovbyk who instead spoke to Daniele De Rossi repeatedly over the last two days.

Roma’s contractual offers exceeds what Atletico were prepared to pay him – now the real challenge begins as Roma focus on meeting Girona’s demands.

The Ukrainian attacker’s agents spent yesterday in Trigoria to continue the negotiations.

Despite the 40 million release clause, Roma put 32 million plus bonuses on the table.

With the last top scorer of the Liga a general agreement has already been reached on the salary: a four-year contract worth 3.5 million per season is ready.
