Edin Dzeko spoke to Roma TV after scoring a goal in Roma’s 4-2 victory over Sassuolo. These are his words:
Are you satisfied with the match?
Yes, in the second half we should have done better but the most important thing was to win.
Was there a drop-off in the second half?
I think we relaxed a little after being up 4-0, even though the manager warned us not to during halftime — this even happened to Brescia today. In the end, though, this didn’t happen but we suffered a little.
Was it just a bit of relaxation or is your physical condition still lacking?
Certainly this is also an issue — it’s still very hot and we’re coming off a national team break where many of us played for 90 minutes. It is not easy to return to the pitch, but we’ll take the victory and hope we don’t repeat the second half.
Could something come out of this partnership with Mkhitaryan?
I think so, he is a top level player who has played with many strong teams. I told him, “You scored twice against Bosnia so now you also have to score with Roma and help us win”, — thankfully he did so. He did well but once he settles in more he will do great things.
