Dzeko, Ünder and Mkhitaryan to miss Samp clash, Perotti on the bench

Following last week’s surgery on his fractured cheekbones, Edin Dzeko’s unavailability for this weekend’s match against Sampdoria was confirmed. Il Tempo reports that the Bosnian had a follow-up consultation with his surgeon, Prof. Bruno Pesucci, who reiterated his stance that the attacker should be rested for the affair. Roma boss Paulo Fonseca will, therefore, give Nikola Kalinić a chance to start against the Blucerchiati.

The Giallorossi will also be without Cengiz Ünder and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this weekend. The Turk has been out for over a month while the Armenian has been out for two weeks. Both are nearing a full recovery from their respective thigh injuries – but they will certainly not be risked as they continue to be monitored on a daily basis. Meanwhile, Diego Perotti could make his return and is in-line to receive his first official call-up of the season following the thigh injury he suffered on 26 August.
