Sasa Kalajdzic is being looked at as an option to lead Roma’s attack in the upcoming season. The soon-to-be 24-year-old Austrian striker is the first name on Tiago Pinto’s shopping list in case Dzeko leaves, writes La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Indeed, Stuttgart’s number 9 has landed on Roma’s radar over the past few weeks. However, the feasibility of this operation will be determined by Dzeko’s future. Right now, it is unclear whether Edin Dzeko is going to leave Roma. With Fonseca gone and Mourinho in charge, the Bosnian is not too keen on leaving the club over the summer. The Roman club does not intend to let him go for free and at his age, it will be difficult to find interested buyers. Mourinho values Roma’s forward, but a decision will be made in the upcoming weeks. If Dzeko were to leave Roma, Kalajdzic would be the first name to replace him.
Kalajdzic is coming off an break-out season at Stuttgart: 16 goals and 5 assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances. Dzeko’s 20/21 campaign, on the other hand, was far from memorable: only 7 goals and 3 assists in 27 Serie A matches.
