One of the biggest positives of this year’s preseason is the amount of playing time Mourinho has been giving to the younger players.
Edoardo Bove, the 19-year-old Primavera midfielder, was one of the protagonist’s in today’s friendly clash against Sevilla in Faro. Following the 0-0 draw, the youngster shared his thoughts on his playing time in the first half of Roma’s preseason and learning from Mourinho.
“Sevilla are a great team. We’re doing well, we’re all starting to understand the mechanisms and tactics on the field, as well as all the advice given to us by the coach that we’re trying to put into practice. We’re getting better with every friendly.”
On the team’s intensity:
“It’s the first thing that the manager asks of us. We’re putting it on display in every game. We’re not dismissing these friendlies, we approach them with the same intensity we will eventually bring to official games.”
On Mourinho’s relationships with the younger players:
“It’s a great way to learn. He gives us so many tips and suggestions He helps us, he motivates us. This helps us immensely to be better with every game.”
