Edoardo Bove previews Europa League final

Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove sat down to preview Wednesday night’s Europa League final in Budapest with Sevilla.

The youngster discussed the feelings after scoring the key goal over Bayer Leverkusen that pushed the Giallorossi into their second consecutive European final.

“It’s always difficult to explain those feelings,” Bove said in an interview with UEFA. “It’s like trying to explain the feeling of scoring a goal at the Olimpico, or receiving the first call from the club. They are very strong emotions.”

“Overall, most people usually answer this question by saying it is an ‘indescribable emotion’. But it really is. At first, the most important thing for me was to have fun. Then, as you grow and develop, you start to understand the importance of playing for Roma and really start to feel part of this club.”

“I’m just getting started and that’s why I want to continue like this and keep playing well. I have to be grateful for the trust the club have in me right now, and that’s the most important thing. I am very happy about that.”

“Mourinho is a special person to me because he is a real person. He treats the rest of the team just as he treat me, and that’s the most important thing. If he has something to tell you, he tells you straight to your face, and I prefer people like that. So I was on good terms with him from the beginning. Obviously he helped me grow. I’m happy for the trust he has in me.”

“The goal versus Bayer Leverkusen was culmination of all the work I’ve done here in the last two years with the coach, the staff, with Roma. Perhaps my first goals were instinctive: the typical goals of a young, inexperienced player. But you have to work hard in training to bring out some elements of your game, and when you can do it on the field, it’s really great.”

“Sevilla? I expect a proper final, because throughout the year we have deserved to be there so we are very happy with it. They deserve it too. Sevilla come from the Champions League, so they deserve even more their place in the final.”

“That’s why we are very happy and we are happy for the fans too. Winning would be nice, just as it would be nice to win any final. A final is a completely different type of match.”
