Edoardo Bove responds to comparisons to De Rossi ahead of Brighton match

Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove responded to questions by the media during his pre-match press conference on the eve of tomorrow’s match with Brighton.

When asked about how he’s dealing with limited playing time under Daniele De Rossi, Bove answered, “I’m taking it as I’ve always tried to face my work and my entire career. I believe that every player has his own path and there are times when you play a little more and others less.”

“I believe skill lies in the consistency of continuing to work, not only to improve but also to continue a type of work begun. In training I see notable progress. I have no problems, I’m calm. When I have the opportunity, I always try to give my best. For a footballer I think this is important.”

“My ideal position on the pitch? You have to ask the coach for the role. However, with the coach we do a certain type of rotations on the pitch. When a player finds himself playing a role that is not his, that player must play as if he were playing the role he is in.”

“This is our concept. Personally, it doesn’t make much difference to me to play more centrally or more advanced.”

“Comparisons to De Rossi? It has a wonderful effect on me, but more than anything the first impact is that of a boy who has always seen this player on TV. Now I see him as my coach. I am honored that he can give me advice that no other coach can give me, also given the career and experience he has had.”

“I honestly believe that every player has his own career. Of course, if I said that I hoped to have a career like the coach’s, I wouldn’t be lying, but I want to have my career. Being approached is fine, it’s an honor, but I don’t know how to say it… I would like my career. The career of Edoardo Bove.”
