Stephan El Shaarawy is among the main beneficiaries of Mourinho’s work so far at Roma. Following his return from China, the 28-year-old has grown into a key presence on the pitch for the Special One.
According to Corriere dello Sport, there is great chemistry between the Italian international and the Portuguese technician.
Despite starting this season from the bench, El Shaarawy has steadily worked his way through the ranks and is now a regular starter.
Mourinho appreciate his work-rate and versatility, even going as far as admitting that El Shaarawy could play on the right flank, alongside Rick Karsdorp, and in case of an emergency, replace the Dutchman for a game or two.
El Shaarawy’s development has reportedly caught the eye of Roberto Mancini who for the past few months has refused to call up the Roma attacker to national team.
However, if El Shaarawy continues to impress with his goal-scoring and overall presence on the pitch, his chances to return to Italy’s squad may increase over time. After all, since making his return to the Italian capital, his dream has been to feature in next year’s World Cup.
