Stephan El Shaarawy has been one of the more positive substitutes off-the-bench for Jose Mourinho so far in this campaign.

After celebrating his birthday following the 1-2 win over Cagliari, the Italian winger is hoping to get his chance to start against his former club AC Milan.

In fact, according to Corriere dello Sport, the only change in formation that The Special One is considering ahead of the big showdown at the Olimpico on Sunday vs a very strong Milan side, is to replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan with El Shaarawy.

The Armenian international hasn’t been at his best for the past couple of weeks and El Shaarawy could slot in behind Tammy Abraham alongside Nicolo Zaniolo.

Mourinho values his versatility and considers him a valid option for several positions: against Cagliari he started on the left flank, and ended the match on the right wing after Zaniolo’s substitution.
